The most obvious way to find out what artificial intelligence means to the law sector was to ask it! We asked ChatGPT 3.5 “What does artificial intelligence mean to the Law profession?” we received the following response:

“Artificial intelligence (AI) in the law profession refers to the use of technology, algorithms, and machine learning to streamline legal processes, enhance research, and improve decision-making. AI can assist in legal research, document review, contract analysis, and predictive analysis, increasing efficiency and reducing time and costs for legal practitioners. However, it also raises ethical and regulatory challenges, such as ensuring accountability, transparency, and fairness in AI-assisted legal tasks.”

The response took 2 seconds and we couldn’t have summed it up better ourselves or even typed it as quickly. However, this simple, but impressive task for ChatGPT with zero risk is far from the challenges of Artificial Intelligence in Law. One thing is true: it is here to stay and our AI journey will be full of wonder, intrigue and concern. Our next article looks at the European Union and AI.
